Paintings

Painting is an ancient mystery from caves; my focus is the occurrence of this mystery. Heidegger says that the Work of Art has its own Being. I am only interested in paintings which have such Existence and Being, independent to the circumstances of their creation; self expression or representation of something outside the painting itself are of no interest to me. However, I am deeply influenced by Daoist understanding of the flow of energy or Qi (气). The mystery of Painting is related to the mystery of being in a human body. The energy of the body is the energy that flows through all things; drawing is the study of this energy. The painter is a conduit for chanelling bodily energy into paintings, which enables paintings to have Being. Therefore, the bodily energy of existence is core to the experience of Painting.
